Twenty-three years ago, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which eventually progressed into type 2 diabetes. For years, I struggled to keep my blood sugar under control. I tried medications like Metformin and GLP-1 injections, but the side effects made it difficult to stay consistent. Deep down, I knew I wanted a different path—one that didn't rely on medications that were hard to tolerate.
Determined to take charge of my health, I began exploring natural ways to manage blood sugar. What I discovered was life-changing: a plant-based diet, daily movement, and simple lifestyle adjustments can have a powerful impact on lowering blood sugar. I committed to these changes, and they worked!
Over the years, I immersed myself in the latest research and expert guidance from pioneers like Dr. Neal Barnard (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine), Dr. T. Colin Campbell (Cornell's Center for Nutrition Studies), Dr. Will Bulsiewicz (author of Fiber Fueled), and John and Ocean Robbins (Food Revolution Network), as well as many others whose work reshaped how I think about nutrition and metabolic health.
To stay on track, I began using tools like a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), nutrition apps, and fitness trackers. These gave me real-time feedback and helped me understand how my body responds to food and movement.
As my approach evolved, I began learning how to cook meals that were both nourishing and diabetes-friendly. Over time, I built a collection of delicious recipes designed to support stable blood sugar—and I'm excited to share them with you.
